Real Recognize Reel

Hi! This is Real Recognize Reel, the movie blog and podcast of Chris Olszewski. Movies were my first love. I wouldn't be where I am today without them. Really. I didn't take journalism and freelancing seriously as a career path until I won an award for a film review in high school. That review sucked in hindsight, but I'd like to think I've gotten better at writing reviews in the seven years since then. I have a degree in multimedia journalism from the University of Missouri with a focus on radio. So yeah, movies are kind of important to me.

My disabilities (of which there are too many to list) heavily influence my writing. Accurate and faithful representation is a big deal. I don't have time for films that claim to have good representation and then screw it up. The film industry can do better. Film criticism also needs a more diverse set of voices. I want to both be one of those voices and lift up the voices of other writers.
